With several seasons of experience at Red Bull KTM Ajo, Deniz Öncü now assumes a new role within the team: that of the most experienced rider. The Turk recognizes the importance of this position and believes he can help his new teammate, Collin Veijer, adapt to Moto2.
In an interview with the championship’s official website, the Turk took on the leadership role within the team, given his experience: ‘Now I’m the most experienced rider on the team. I’ve been here for many years and it’s part of the journey to be the team veteran.’
Regarding his own evolution, Öncü feels stronger and more prepared than ever. The work done during the pre-season allowed him to improve consistency throughout the race weekends, but there’s a specific point where he needs to evolve:
– Compared to last year, we are much stronger. I think we are also more consistent in all sessions, but we have to improve in all areas, and the time attack is where we have to focus more to show the evolution in relation to 2024.
And he continued: ‘I think we are in good shape, both physically and in terms of the bike, especially in the races, but we have to fine-tune some details. We have more experience, we understand better how the bike works and we know how to control all situations.’
With the accumulated experience and a strong team by his side, Deniz Öncü faces 2025 with ambition and determination, believing that this could be his year of affirmation in Moto2.
