The MotoGP World Championship title fight is heating up. With just four rounds remaining, only ten points separate the top two riders, with Jorge Martín (Prima Pramac/Ducati) leading Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati).
Despite being behind in the standings, the Italian rider Bagnaia has secured the most victories by far – eight, compared to his Spanish rival’s three. Consistency has been key, not only in the main races but also in the Sprint races, where Martín has performed considerably better than Bagnaia.
Nonetheless, the disparity between race wins and the championship standings remains puzzling. Ducati team manager Davide Tardozzi addressed this odd situation in an interview with GPOne.com:
– It’s paradoxical to think that Pecco won eight races, while Jorge has won three, yet he’s still ten points behind in the championship. This is an open wound, but I think Bagnaia is well aware of it, and I am convinced that he will be able to bring us the satisfaction that both he and the entire team deserve because, in the end, Pecco understands the value of the team.
