Scottish golfer David Law is setting his sights on a comeback after a strong start to the 2025 season, finishing fifth at the SDC Open last Sunday. While losing his DP World Tour card was a setback, Law sees the Challenge Tour as a chance to rebuild, improve, and regain momentum in his career.
Positive Mindset for 2025
Law, 31, is optimistic as he embarks on a four-week stint in South Africa, where he aims to fine-tune his game and establish himself as a top contender. Speaking to The Scotsman, he shared his enthusiasm for the road ahead:
“I have four weeks in South Africa, and my mindset is really good. I’m excited, to be honest, which sounds strange being back on the Challenge Tour.”
Lessons from a Tough 2024
Reflecting on his struggles last year on the DP World Tour, Law admitted the experience was humbling yet motivating:
“I finished last season feeling really disappointed with how the regular season finished, and to then not get my card at the Q-School was disappointing. But, at the same time, it kind of spurred me on to work hard over the past few weeks.”
The SDC Open marked a positive turning point for the Scotsman, who now aims to carry that momentum into the rest of the year. Law views the Challenge Tour as a valuable platform to sharpen his competitive edge:
“It’s an opportunity for me to try and improve and, fingers crossed, spend a bit more time in contention and just get a little bit better at competing again.”
DP World Tour vs. Challenge Tour
While the DP World Tour offers a stage for Europe’s elite golfers, it also presents immense challenges for those trying to break through. Law’s experiences on the Tour highlighted the intensity of competition, leaving him eager to thrive in the Challenge Tour environment.
“Playing on the DP World can be challenging, especially with the best golfers on this continent competing for the prestigious trophy. But the Challenge Tour, while also difficult, gives me a better chance to grow and regain my confidence.”
Aiming for Redemption
Law’s performance at the SDC Open was a promising start, and his focus on self-improvement is evident. As he navigates the Challenge Tour, his goals are clear: return to winning ways, regain his DP World Tour card, and establish himself as a formidable force in European golf.
With a refreshed mindset and determination, David Law is poised for a strong comeback in 2025.
