Daniel Holgado led the first practice session of the Solidarity GP of Barcelona Moto3, with the final minutes being tightly contested. The Spaniard prevailed with one of his last attempts.
At the start of the session, Adrián Fernández (Leopard Racing/Honda) was leading after the first flying laps, but he was soon overtaken by Ryusei Yamanaka (MT Helmets-MSi/KTM), who set a series of three fast laps. After about 12 minutes, Collin Veijer (Liqui Moly Husqvarna Intact GP) took the top spot, where he remained for almost 20 minutes.
The Dutch rider was then surpassed by Yamanaka, who lost the position to José Antonio Rueda (Red Bull KTM Ajo) shortly after. Holgado (Red Bull GasGas Tech3) led for a brief moment before being immediately beaten by David Muñoz (BOE Motorsports/KTM).
However, Holgado reacted quickly and set the fastest time of the session: 1m46.568s. Muñoz didn’t improve and ended up in second place, 0.081s behind. Ángel Piqueras (Leopard Racing/Honda) took third, followed by Joel Kelso (BOE Motorsports/KTM) and Veijer in the top five. The champion, David Alonso (CFMOTO Valresa Aspar), finished 14th, 0.672s off the top.
