The MotoGP will feature 22 rounds in the upcoming season, including the Sprint races, totaling 44 races altogether. It’s an exhausting format for the riders, with some being critical of the current schedule.
One of them is Aleix Espargaró, who, as quoted by AS, revealed that Dani Pedrosa would have ended his career sooner if the program were as it is now:
– Dani told me that with the current schedule, he would have retired earlier. And Dani retired young. He said to me that it’s unsustainable, that he didn’t know how we manage it. When someone as good as him tells you this, it’s incredible.
Pedrosa ended his career after the 2018 season, which had 19 Grand Prix races. At the time, the ‘Little Samurai’ was 34 years old.
