This year, KTM will have a star-studded lineup in terms of MotoGP test riders – consisting of Jonas Folger, Pol Espargaró, and, of course, Dani Pedrosa, who has been part of the project since 2019. He is currently one of the most experienced test riders in the role.
The #26 explained to the Paddock Pass Podcast that not all test riders have the same tasks, depending on two main factors: ‘Each test rider has a different approach. I think this is due to two factors: one, availability, because you may not always get a particular rider for every role. And the other thing is that each manufacturer is in a different position, for example, when I joined KTM they had very little MotoGP experience, so the procedure is completely different if you are with Honda or Yamaha, which have a long history in MotoGP’.
Regarding his connection with KTM, Pedrosa revealed: ‘I have a contract that specifies more or less the days I have to go testing. Obviously, there is a plan with the team where we know how many days we can do, but obviously if there is any situation where at a given moment there’s a schedule change or we have to test something new, then we do it, we are flexible in that’.
