At the San Marino MotoGP Grand Prix last year, Dani Pedrosa surprised everyone. The KTM test rider participated as a wildcard and, even so, fought for the podium in both races, finishing fourth in both the Sprint race and the main race. Nothing that makes him consider returning to MotoGP full-time, also considering that it is an unrepeatable achievement.
In an interview with SPEEDWEEK.com, the Spanish rider was asked if he had any secrets for the results in that round, to which he replied: ‘I didn’t have one. I myself was a bit surprised at how everything went. But I have to say that KTM took a big step, and the bike was very good. Many factors came together. You also need a perfect qualifying, a perfect start, and a good first lap to achieve such a good result’.
Pedrosa, who also praised the team’s work, ruled out a full-time return, also emphasizing that what was seen in Misano last September was an exception: ‘Absolutely not. I’m happy with my role; that is enough for me. Also, Misano cannot be repeated. […]. It was an exception, as I said, because everything came together and went perfectly’.
