Miguel Oliveira fractured his right scapula in the MotoGP Qatar GP Sprint race. The injury keeps him out of the main race in Losail and likely out for a longer period. Though nothing is clear at this point, the preseason might be at risk.
As of now, there’s no official confirmation, not even about his absence from the Valencia GP, which closes the season next week. However, journalist Simon Patterson mentioned on social media a similar injury to what Enea Bastianini (Ducati) suffered earlier in the year at the Portugal GP, keeping him out for almost five months.
The respected paddock reporter mentioned a fracture that typically takes between six to 12 weeks to heal without surgery. It’s «tight» for Oliveira to return in time for the preseason tests in Sepang—assuming the recovery doesn’t face any significant setbacks that considerably delay his return.
On his part, the CryptoDATA RNF MotoGP Team rider has the advantage of the upcoming months being relatively free of commitments, both on and off the track, after the season ends. Therefore, he won’t have any reasons to rush his recovery or take premature steps to hasten his return to the track.
