The AMA Supercross 250 provided a breathtaking spectacle at Protective Stadium in Birmingham, Alabama. The battle for the 250SX East division title remains fierce, with Nate Thrasher emerging as the big winner of the night, thanks to his consistency throughout the event’s three races.
250SX – First Race
The night began with RJ Hampshire taking the lead, claiming the holeshot by a minimal margin over Daxton Bennick, Tom Vialle, and Seth Hammaker. However, a mistake by Hammaker in the 180-degree turn before the whoops resulted in a dramatic crash that involved a large portion of the field, leaving several riders struggling to resume the race.
At the front, Hampshire maintained the lead, but Tom Vialle pressured him until the last moment. Both riders faced difficulties passing lapped riders on the final lap, which allowed Vialle to get even closer. However, the Frenchman chose not to risk a last-minute attack, aware that he still had two races ahead. Hampshire crossed the finish line in first, with Vialle in second and Nate Thrasher securing a discreet third place. Max Vohland and Carson Mumford completed the top 5. Hammaker, after recovering from the crash, finished ninth.
250SX – Second Race
Determined to make up for his error in the first race, Seth Hammaker shot to the front in the second race of the night, claiming the holeshot. RJ Hampshire tried to respond immediately, but Hammaker gradually began to pull away. Carson Mumford and Nate Thrasher settled into the following positions, while Tom Vialle battled to reach the top 5.
With an impeccable performance, Hammaker secured his first victory in a Triple Crown race, an even more remarkable feat given his history of injuries that prevented him from regularly competing in this format. Hampshire and Thrasher completed the podium, while Mumford and Vialle rounded out the top 5.
250SX – Third Race
The third and final race of the night began again with Seth Hammaker in front. Nate Thrasher and Tom Vialle followed closely behind, while Daxton Bennick also positioned himself well in the top 5. On the other hand, RJ Hampshire found himself delayed after getting caught behind riders who fell in the first turn.
Hammaker remained unstoppable and repeated his victory from the second race, while Thrasher consolidated a solid second place. Vialle and Bennick engaged in an intense battle, but the Frenchman ultimately prevailed and secured third position. Hampshire recovered to fifth place.
Final Round Classification
Despite Hammaker’s victories in the last two races, it was Nate Thrasher’s consistency (3-3-2) that earned him the overall victory for the night. RJ Hampshire, who entered the last race as the favorite for the overall win, finished in second place, while Tom Vialle completed the podium.
Hammaker, despite his two victories, finished only in fourth place due to his ninth-place finish in the first race. Nevertheless, his recovery throughout the night showed his potential for the season. With this result, the battle for the AMA Supercross 250 title remains heated, promising more excitement in the upcoming rounds.
Tom Vialle continues to lead the championship with a total of 99 points, ten more than second-placed RJ Hampshire. Seth Hammaker is third with 86, Max Anstie fourth with 78, the same as Nate Thrasher.
