The day continues to be strong in the chaos that was the MotoGP Sprint race in Jerez as Fabio Quartararo had managed to get the first podium of the year only to lose it. The issue seems to be a value below the allowed tire pressure, resulting in an eight-second penalty for the French rider.
If Quartararo had reasons to smile with the podium, the truth is that after the eight-second penalty, his result ends up not being the worst and the #20 remains within the points-scoring positions of the Sprint race. It’s not a podium finish, but this way the French rider ends up with a 15.052s gap to Jorge Martín, dropping from third to sixth.
Meanwhile, Dani Pedrosa continues to prove to be a true “monster” in the category and even manages to secure another podium at 38 years old, only being beaten by a rider who is half (!) his age, Pedro Acosta, in second place and by Martín, the current championship leader.
Without going into details, the MotoGP organization informed that the low tire pressure of the former world champion was what led to his penalty and subsequent farewell to the podium.
