In 2026, MotoGP will return to Brazil more than 20 years after its last race. It seems that the race will replace the Argentine GP, which returned to the calendar in 2014 at the Termas de Río Hondo Circuit.
Despite the calendar being at its maximum capacity, there is a desire in Argentina to continue… but in Buenos Aires. The current contract for Termas de Río Hondo expires this year.
The Juan and Óscar Gálvez Circuit is already undergoing modernization and renovation works, and its director, Juan Pablo Sassano, told Rádio Carburando that the goal is to host MotoGP:
– Works will begin to improve the circuit, to enhance it, and to bring it to Grade 2. That’s the first intention, and to be able to host MotoGP in 2026, as Fabián Turnes, the Sports Secretary, had mentioned at some point.
When asked about which improvements will be made, Juan Pablo Sassano explained: ‘There are many. They focus on infrastructure, hydraulics, and electrical energy. There will also be work on improving the pit boxes. Many improvements are planned. There are some details I can’t reveal yet because they are not very clear. The objective is to improve the circuit, bring it to Grade 2, and clearly work to bring MotoGP here. Of course, there is always contact with the FIM, as this is a joint effort with the FIM’.
