The riders who will be in Q2 for the Aragon GP have been found: Brad Binder was the fastest and Pedro Acosta was second, and so both have the opportunity to fight for pole position.
Everything was in place for the start of Q1 and the question remained: who would make it to Q2? The experienced candidates were many, with the full KTM contingent, four riders, the Yamaha and VR46 Racing Team duo and three Honda representatives, joined by an unexpected Enea Bastianini.
Pedro Acosta was the first to lead with a time of 1:48.679s and he was joined by Jack Miller who was 6:020s behind, Fabio Di Giannantonio was 0.855s behind, precisely the same gap as Brad Binder.
The South African was soon up to second, just 0.073s off the pace: KTM had three riders in the top three for the time being. Augusto Fernández was sixth, as he looks set to become a Yamaha test rider.
A few moments before the usual garage session, Miller moved to the front with a 0.030s lead over Acosta: the two were provisionally qualified for Q2.
After the restart the riders tried to get in front of Bastianini, as was Marco Bezzecchi, but until the end no one would beat the times of the leading pair, with Brad Binder with an attack at the very end and Acosta guaranteeing Q2!
