Charlamagne tha God challenges Whoopi Goldberg on “The View,” igniting a fierce debate over Hunter Biden’s controversial pardon.
A heated exchange unfolded on “The View” Wednesday as radio personality Charlamagne tha God clashed with Whoopi Goldberg over President Joe Biden’s decision to pardon his son, Hunter Biden. Charlamagne accused Democrats of hypocrisy, calling the move a blow to their moral high ground and questioning their willingness to hold their own leaders accountable.
“Democrats stand on this moral high ground all the time,” Charlamagne argued. “They act so self-righteous. But the reality is, he didn’t have to say anything about whether or not his son wanted to be pardoned.” He pointed to Biden’s earlier declarations that “no one is above the law,” labeling the pardon a betrayal of that promise.
Goldberg fiercely defended the president, pushing back against Charlamagne’s skepticism. “You don’t know that it was a lie,” Goldberg countered. She suggested that Biden’s decision might have been driven by frustration with broader systemic inequities rather than a calculated political maneuver. “I think he changed his mind because he got sick of watching everybody else get over,” she argued.
The pardon, announced during Thanksgiving weekend, has drawn criticism from across the political spectrum. Co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin highlighted the contradiction in Biden’s actions, noting that the Democrats “ran on respecting institutions” but now appear to be undermining their own principles.
Charlamagne didn’t hold back, challenging Goldberg and the panel to admit fault within their party. “Why can’t you say when Democrats are wrong?” he asked, adding that blind loyalty to political ideologies erodes objectivity. “Neither one of them has the moral high ground,” he said of Democrats and Republicans alike.
Goldberg and Sunny Hostin defended Biden, insisting his actions didn’t betray Democratic ideals. “I don’t think Joe Biden was in the wrong,” Goldberg said emphatically, while Hostin echoed her stance.
The fiery debate underscores the growing tensions within the Democratic Party, as even loyal voters and commentators begin to question their leaders’ accountability in the face of controversial decisions.
