Toprak Razgatlioglu is one of the standout riders in the World Superbike Championship (WSBK), and throughout this year, there was speculation about a potential move to MotoGP in 2024 – he even tested the Yamaha YZR-M1.
However, the Turkish rider chose to stay in WSBK and moved to BMW. His expectation is to lead the German manufacturer to championships, embracing a new challenge after his successes with Yamaha.
Ben Spies is among the few riders in history who transitioned from WSBK to MotoGP. Quoted by SPEEDWEEK.com, the American revealed that he advised Razgatlioglu not to follow in his footsteps, primarily due to the adaptation required:
– Overall, my riding style wasn’t suitable for MotoGP. It’s similar to Toprak Razgatlioglu, whom I almost put on par with Marc Márquez in terms of talent. I spoke with him after the M1 tests and told him it was going to be tough for him.
