Monster Energy Yamaha has seen a decline in performance in MotoGP in recent years, resulting in a situation where, unlike in the past when they contended for titles until 2022, they are now far from being regular podium contenders.
However, they have responded to these challenges with deep internal changes and a shift in mentality, also seeking to take advantage of the development concessions available to them this year.
Despite this, the process of regaining competitiveness is gradual and requires time. Fabio Quartararo, who recently renewed his contract until 2026, already sees light at the end of the tunnel, as he stated to the newspaper AS:
– We need time. We need a year. I believe that at the beginning of next year, we will be in a different position from now and we can start talking like in the past and not wonder if we can make it to Q2, and make it more often than we do now.
Regarding what has improved most at Yamaha so far, the 2021 champion highlighted the hiring of Max Bartolini from Ducati: ‘What has improved, above all, is having an engineer who has a lot of experience at a manufacturer that has won a lot recently, which is Max Bartolini. He gave confidence to all of Yamaha, in the way of working, in the way he is as a person, in the speed he brought to the work, and the confidence he gave to the Japanese’.
