Arón Canet set a new Moto2 lap record at the Misano circuit, leading the second practice session for the Emilia-Romagna GP, where nearly all riders improved compared to yesterday.
Fermín Aldeguer (MB Conveyors SpeedUp/Boscoscuro) was the first to post a time, but after the opening laps, it was Canet (Fantic Racing/Kalex) who took the lead. However, after the first ten minutes, Tony Arbolino (Elf Marc VDS/Kalex) moved into first place.
The Italian held onto the top spot for about 15 minutes until Sergio García (MT Helmets-MSi/Boscoscuro) surpassed him. Shortly after, Canet delivered two consecutive fast laps, eventually setting the record at 1m35.154s.
Filip Salac (Elf Marc VDS/Kalex) improved to finish just 17 thousandths behind, followed by Arbolino. Albert Arenas (QJMotor Gresini/Kalex) and Joe Roberts (OnlyFans American Racing Team/Kalex) rounded out the top five, with championship leader Ai Ogura (MT Helmets-MSi/Boscoscuro) finishing tenth, 0.455s behind Canet.
Aldeguer, in 14th, was the last rider going directly to the second qualifying, edging out Diogo Moreira (Italtrans Racing Team/Kalex) by just 0.060s. The Brazilian was one of four riders who did not improve compared to yesterday’s afternoon session.
