Arón Canet set the pace in the Moto2 free practice session for the Solidarity GP of Barcelona, finishing ahead of Fermín Aldeguer, who surprised with the second-fastest time in his return to the track just weeks after fracturing his left hand.
Izan Guevara (CFMOTO Inde Aspar/Kalex) initially led after the first flying laps but was soon overtaken by Diogo Moreira (Italtrans Racing Team/Kalex)… before Canet (Fantic Racing/Kalex) took the lead for the first time.
However, Jake Dixon (CFMOTO Inde Aspar/Kalex) held the top spot the longest, moving to the front 11 minutes into the session and remaining there for over 20 minutes before being surpassed by Fermín Aldeguer (Sync SpeedUp/Boscoscuro).
The Spaniard then improved but was ultimately beaten by Canet, who delivered two fast laps in succession to become the only rider to enter the 1m42s bracket. Aldeguer finished second, 0.200s behind Canet, followed by Tony Arbolino (Elf Marc VDS/Kalex). Rounding out the top five were Alonso López (Sync SpeedUp/Boscoscuro) and Marcos Ramírez (OnlyFans American Racing Team/Kalex).
