Despite considering that the Aprilia RS-GP has improved considerably for the 2024 MotoGP season, Aleix Espargaró is also aware that the bike still has some limitations that prevent it from being at the level of Ducati.
The performance of the engine in terms of torque and power is one of the areas that the Spaniard highlighted. Espargaró was asked when he expects to have the improvements he needs. In response, he admitted that it won’t be easy but praised the progress made in recent years:
– That’s a question you need to do to Romano [Albesiano, technical director]. It’s going to be very difficult. During the winter I talked a lot with Romano. He never told me the exact number of horse power that Aprilia has, but he told me we are in a really, really high numbers if you compare to four/five years ago; they never expected to reach these numbers. But he recognizes it isn’t enough, so hopefully they can improve. But it’s not going to be easy.
