Álvaro Carpe became the champion of the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup in Misano last weekend, and the Moto3 World Championship is expected to be the next step in his career in 2025.
According to the SPEEDWEEK.com website, even before the title was secured, Red Bull KTM Ajo had already reached a handshake agreement with the 17-year-old Spanish rider. In fact, if regulations allowed, Aki Ajo was interested in promoting Carpe this year.
With the signing of the new Rookies Cup champion, the Finnish team will need to let go of one of its current riders, both of whom are promising young talents: rookie Xabi Zurutuza (22nd in the championship) and José Antonio Rueda, who is currently sixth with a victory already achieved.
A solution that has been used in the past, though not common, would be to have three riders. Among the current riders, Rueda would be the logical choice to stay. However, Zurutuza is in his rookie year and was only able to participate from the third round due to age restrictions, which could earn him a second chance.
