Alonso López reaffirmed his dominance during the first practice session of the Moto2 Aragon GP. The Sync SpeedUp rider led both sessions on Friday at MotorLand Aragón, setting a new lap record in the afternoon.
López was the pace-setter in the first ten minutes, briefly losing the top spot to Arón Canet (Fantic Racing/Kalex). Fermín Aldeguer (Sync SpeedUp/Boscoscuro) then took the lead, only to be overtaken by Deniz Öncü (Red Bull KTM Ajo/Kalex).
As lap times continued to drop, Jake Dixon (CFMoto Inde Aspar/Kalex) also had a stint at the top before Aldeguer regained the lead, which he held until López reclaimed it with 22 minutes elapsed. Diogo Moreira (Italtrans Racing Team/Kalex) briefly set the pace around the half-hour mark.
However, with three minutes remaining, López set a new lap record of 1m50.989s, outpacing the Brazilian Moreira by 0.223s. Dixon finished third, Aldeguer took fourth, and Canet rounded out the top five. It was a tough Friday for Sergio García (MT Helmets-MSi/Boscoscuro), who finished the session in 26th, 1.734s slower than López.
