Álex Rins scored his first points with Monster Energy Yamaha in MotoGP by finishing 13th in the Portuguese GP. However, he is not at the desired level and was far behind his teammate Fabio Quartararo – who crossed the finish line in seventh.
For #42, there are changes to be made, after continuing to face the same difficulties: ‘I think after this race I realized that I need to do something different on the bike, because I had similar problems to the race in Qatar. I was struggling a lot with the front… after releasing the brakes, going on throttle… I’m struggling to turn. I cannot do angle’.
In Rins’ view, the solutions to this issue may not necessarily involve new components: ‘Maybe we need to focus on the set-up more than in the new parts, because I’m not quite happy. It’s not team’s fault, it’s not bike’s fault. It’s just our second race, we need to get used to the bike, we need to understand… we have work to do’.
