Francesco Bagnaia qualified in sixth place for the MotoGP Thai Grand Prix. However, right at the start, he lost a few positions and could only recover to seventh.
The 2022 champion explained what went wrong to lose several positions at the beginning: ‘I missed a bit the start and then I’ve lost a lot of time behind [Johann] Zarco and then with the battle between Johann and Álex Márquez, which at that right moment was quite useless considering how much time we have lost. They were overtaking like if it was the last lap and it was useless’
Once he overcame the battles with these rivals, Bagnaia regained a good feeling with the bike, drawing a lesson from this race – to be stronger in the early laps: ‘When I was able to be in front, I was 1.5s/1.6s [faster than] Marc Márquez who was in front. And we managed to close the gap, we managed to control everything perfectly, my feeling on my bike was good again. And I’m happy with the tyre consumption, with the feeling. But finishing seventh in a moment we are so fast and strong it’s not good for us. So we need to consider that and for tomorrow I just have to improve my pace in the firsts laps to be out of some battle that costs time to us’.
