The year 2020 had the particularity of being a year in which Marc Márquez and Álex Márquez shared a garage, albeit for a short time in practice, between the #93’s injury and an atypical season marked by the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. This reunion will be different, they both guarantee.
Álex began by talking about this reunion, now in the colours of Gresini Racing: ‘I hope so, but it’s also true that we were in a very different situation, he was a rookie and had many aspects to improve and I didn’t have much opportunity to take a lot of information from him, he was very fast, and I was step by step getting to the category, but now we’re in a different situation. Both he and I can make the most of this situation’.
Marc, meanwhile, recalled that 2020 was the ‘worst year’ and that everything ‘changed’, but he emphasised that, despite this, they will both have their individual work cut out for them:
– As Álex said, we expect, or at least I expect, a different year because it was the worst year and everything changed. The future said that we would meet again in another team, and have fun during the year but on the track, at the end, he will be with his chief engineer and team and I will be on my side of the garage working. The most important thing in this case for Álex is not to have high expectations because I’m in the garage box. He has his expectations, he has to be realistic at all times and work to feel like a MotoGP rider for many years to come.
