Aleix Espargaró is determined to recapture his best performance at the Thai Grand Prix after a more challenging period in the season. The Spanish Aprilia Racing rider, who last year managed a front row qualifying position and a fifth place in the sprint race in Buriram, sees the Thai heat as an opportunity to return to form.
‘Chang is a track I like. Last year we had a great race, starting from the front row and finishing not far behind the leaders,’ said Espargaró. ‘This year I’m struggling a lot, especially with low temperatures, being unable to find the right grip. I hope that in Thailand, where it will certainly be hot, I can be competitive,’ he added in a statement.
The driver recognizes that qualifying will be crucial to his weekend aspirations: ‘Qualifying will be key and that’s where I haven’t been at my best recently, considering how much it influences race results. I hope to do better on Saturday in Thailand and have a better weekend.
Espargaró is looking to regain the speed and sensations that made him stand out in the first part of the season, seeing the Chang International Circuit as an opportunity to return to top results.
