Pramac has been linked to Ducati in MotoGP for several years, but now speculation is rife that the team might take a different path. The team knew it would lose Jorge Martín at the end of this season due to his ambition to join a factory team. Marc Márquez was considered an alternative, but he also preferred a factory team over Pramac.
Alberto Vergani believes this is the perfect time for the Italian team to embrace a new challenge. The riders’ manager told GPOne.com that he believes team owner Paolo Campinoti does not seem satisfied with the current situation:
– I think Paolo is not happy with all this, and I understand him, as he lost Martín and next year won’t have Márquez either. In my opinion, he has to follow the trend, and I think the thing to do is choose Yamaha.
According to Vergani, Yamaha’s conditions and approach are enticing for Pramac: ‘In fact, Yamaha rolled out the red carpet for him and is offering better financial treatment. I would say this is the right moment to choose a new challenge, considering, among other things, that Yamaha is working so hard in terms of personnel to reinforce itself. And in the end, it is the people who make the difference’.
