The Repsol Honda Team is in a race against time with few alternatives. Alberto Puig admits that the manufacturer is working on the future and looking for a rider to replace Marc Marquez, while at the same time admitting that there are not many options and that this is not the ideal scenario, both for the team and rider.
Today during the official MotoGP broadcast in Thailand, the Japanese team’s Team Manager explained that the current situation isn’t easy to manage, while there aren’t many riders available to negotiate with:
– It’s not easy, because there aren’t many possibilities. Basically, all the riders have a contract. So… the possibilities are not many. We have some, of course, I’m not going to say no. It’s probably not the ideal situation for a rider. It’s probably not the ideal situation for a team not to have time to choose between several riders. But it is what it is and we’ll have to move on and survive somehow.
Regarding Fabio Di Giannantonio, Puig assured us that he is not the only candidate in a range where there aren’t many others: ‘We’re not just talking to him. We’re talking to other riders. As I said, there aren’t many possibilities, but we’re having two or three conversations at the same time’.
