Focused, focused, and focused. It’s with this mindset that Ai Ogura sets off for 2025 in his debut year in MotoGP, where he aims to learn and get to know the bike gradually, and without setting any specific goals. The rider can’t wait to get to work and is happy to have so many days of testing before the official start.
The Japanese rider began by recalling his winter and how he tried to best prepare himself for this new stage in his career: ‘My winter was good, with a lot of training on the bike and also a few days to relax, it was good and now I’m very excited about the start of the season. Everything is new to me, the bike, the category and the people around me and I can’t wait to get started. We have tests in a couple of weeks’.
He continued: ‘It was good to have the test in Barcelona after the end of the season and after that I knew how I had to work in the winter. I’ll have eight test days in total, that’s a lot and it’s good to have so many test days before the season starts, and it’s also good to have the first race in Thailand and I can’t wait’.
Given what he expects from the test days, the Moto2 world champion said, when asked about the main aspects to work on: ‘Nothing special, just trying to learn as much as possible about the bike, that’s the main thing and that’s what I’ll have to work on’.
And results for the first part of the season, what goals does Ogura have? ‘There is no best result or goal like a top ten or whatever. I just want to do my best in every round, every race and session. A result is a result’.
