Since January 1st, Honda has officially been without a main sponsor in MotoGP, after nearly three decades of partnership with Repsol, which ended at the close of last year.
No new partner has been announced yet, which adds to the anticipation for the official presentation of the Japanese team, scheduled for February 1st. Will there be a new main sponsor?
Speculation suggests that Castrol might take Repsol’s place. The lubricant producer is already the main sponsor for one of the LCR Honda bikes (currently ridden by Johann Zarco), but that doesn’t rule out the possibility of them maintaining this commitment.
So far, Honda HRC has not commented on a potential new main sponsor, in a year where they aim to make significant improvements in their competitive performance, with riders Joan Mir and Luca Marini.
