Daniel Sanders has been the leading figure in this 2025 Dakar Rally and today he finished the day, now with more riders finishing the day, in 12th place after being penalized by more than eight minutes. A problem with the navigation in the final phase of the day made his task difficult, although overall he felt very good.
The KTM rider analyzed his day after crossing the finish line, talking precisely about the unforeseen event at the end: ‘On the last 40 km, I had a little navigation instrument problem again. I’m just disappointed. I’m glad it happened at the end of the stage when I was with other riders, otherwise I would have been stuck’.
His feelings were nevertheless quite positive: ‘I felt good all day. There were a couple of little mistakes in some fast areas, staying too far to one side and missing the main way. The other guys caught up with me pretty quickly after the refuelling. Other than that, the body and bike are good and we’re happy to make it to the rest day’.
Sanders believes it’s in his hands to keep control of what’s happening: ‘I have a lot of experience and many years here now. I just know what to do and how to control it. The navigation is obviously going good. I know I’ve been able to do it, I’ve just needed the right equipment to make it happen and we’ve definitely got that right now’.
