Marc Márquez secured a place in the factory MotoGP team for the 2025 season. While it seemed likely that Ducati would choose Jorge Martín, it was the eight-time world champion who ultimately was chosen.
After joining Gresini, Márquez regained his form and began competing at the top levels again. However, Ricard Jové mentioned on the podcast Dura la Vita that Márquez’s strength goes beyond his results and performances, even comparing him to Valentino Rossi:
– I would say he is truly enjoying himself now, especially after the tough years he endured. But moreover, as he is intelligent, he adds a bit more spice, embellishes himself a bit more. With the spectacle he often creates, he captures everything. The communication, the show on the podium, after the podium… in this, he is a media genius, and I think everyone should learn from this – like Rossi did in his time. Do you remember when Rossi started doing prepared celebrations? You were always waiting to see what he would show when he won.
The commentator believes Márquez’s strategy regarding his move to Ducati was also brilliantly executed: ‘At this moment, Márquez has become, both in the sporting and media realms – and he is very aware – a product, a brand. He has been embellishing it very well for some years with well-measured strategies. And in this case, he executed a strategy that changed everything. In the end, it was he who moved everything and ended up bringing down castles so that they would open the door to the main castle for him’.
