Aprilia has announced Jorge Martín as one of its MotoGP riders for 2025, taking the place of Aleix Espargaró, who has announced his retirement at the end of this year. The current objective for Aprilia is to renew Maverick Viñales’ contract, but it is uncertain if Viñales wants to stay.
While admitting to GPOne.com that the new rider of the Noale manufacturer plays a role, Viñales emphasized that he would need to consider existing opportunities regardless:
– Clearly, Martín’s arrival opened my eyes a bit to look around. It doesn’t depend only on Jorge’s arrival; simply, there are some interesting opportunities out there, and I have to evaluate them well.
For now, Viñales has not made any decisions, as he stated when asked if he could form a dream team with Martín: ‘That’s hard to understand. I haven’t really thought about what to do in 2025. I want to understand which project is best for me to make the most of my talents. So, I’m still evaluating and deciding’.
