Aleix Espargaró will leave MotoGP at the end of the season, leaving behind a long career. For many years, his crew chief has been Antonio Jiménez, with whom he has shared both good and less positive moments.
In an interview with MOW Mag, the engineer was asked about his wish for the rest of the year: ‘To win somewhere. Winning in Misano would be very nice. Maybe in Aragón, a circuit Aleix doesn’t like but where he is always fast’.
Regarding the best and worst moments he experienced with Espargaró, Jiménez has some standout memories – and even in the worst, he found a positive takeaway:
– There are two best memories. The first podium at Silverstone in 2021 was pure ecstasy. From that point on, we believed, and the first victory in Argentina in 2022 was incredible. [The worst moment]. When Aleix crashed two years ago in FP4 at Silverstone, I was really scared – it was quite a flight. The next day he finished ninth, just three seconds behind the leader. He is incredibly brave.
