This afternoon, Joe Roberts secured his first pole position of the season in Moto2. During the qualifying session for the Italian Grand Prix, the rider also set a new lap record at the Mugello circuit.
Alonso López (MB Conveyors SpeedUp/Boscoscuro) was the first to complete a lap, but was later overtaken by Manuel González (QJMotor Gresini/Kalex), who in turn was surpassed by Sergio García (MT Helmets-MSi/Boscoscuro).
The championship leader held the lead until the final minutes when Roberts beat him. The OnlyFans American Racing rider set a lap time of 1m49.877s, which is a new record at Mugello, leaving García 0.078s behind.
López improved towards the end but could only manage third place, followed by González and Darryn Binder (Liqui Moly Husqvarna Intact GP/Kalex) in the top five. Marcos Ramírez (OnlyFans American Racing/Kalex) closed out the second row of the grid in sixth place.
