Ducati currently has eight bikes on the MotoGP grid, half of which are official – the two from the factory team and the two from Prima Pramac Racing, whose team director Gino Borsoi has guaranteed will continue under the same conditions in 2025.
However, there’s another factor to consider: Marc Márquez, who is with Gresini on last year’s version of the Desmosedici GP, wants to be on an updated bike in 2025. He has ruled out moving to Pramac, which means that for him to remain under Ducati’s umbrella, there would need to be a fifth official bike on the grid – if he doesn’t move up to the factory team, where Jorge Martín is considered a certainty.
But this scenario is not being considered for now. Ducati’s sporting director told the official MotoGP website that there are no certainties yet, and a fifth official Desmosedici GP for 2025 is not currently being contemplated:
– Can I answer you at the end of the year? Because honestly speaking we don’t know. We want to focus on this race, this weekend. We don’t know yet, honestly speaking. At the moment this kind of option is not on the table.
