One of the riders without a contract for the 2025 MotoGP season is the current championship leader, Jorge Martín. He is currently with Prima Pramac and aims to move up to Ducati’s factory team – a goal that may not be easy to achieve.
Marc Márquez (Gresini/Ducati) is also eyeing that spot, as is the current holder of the position, Enea Bastianini. Therefore, one of the three will have to look for alternatives if they want to be in a factory team next year.
In a press conference, Martín was asked about the possibility of joining Aprilia, where Aleix Espargaró will be retiring. The 2022 runner-up responded:
– It doesn’t make sense to start thinking what can be a good option or not. Now we have to wait, so until that moment is difficult. For sure it seems that the European brands really are in a good shape, Aprilia and KTM. And also for sure Honda and Yamaha will arrive with time. So let’s wait and then we’ll see. But there are really competitive options.
