The Pierer Mobility Group is one of the fastest growing companies in the motorcycle industry. Comprising KTM, Husqvarna and GasGas, the company has established a strong global presence and holds a significant position in several markets around the world. The organization recently published its sales report for the first half of 2023 and reported strong growth, mainly in Europe and North America.
In the first half of 2023, the Pierer Mobility Group made some impressive progress. The group’s revenue increased by a remarkable 20.2 %, reaching an all-time high of 1,387.6 million euros. In particular, the motorcycle segment saw robust growth, with an increase of 19%. On the two-wheeler front, the bicycle segment was not far behind, with an impressive 37% growth.
As far as its global presence is concerned, a significant part of its turnover, around 59%, comes from Europe. North America, which includes Mexico, contributed 28% to the group’s revenues, demonstrating a substantial presence in this region. The remaining 13% came from various markets around the world, highlighting its diversified international presence.
In the first half of 2023, Pierer Mobility Group’s motorcycle segment achieved an impressive sales volume increase of 16.5%, selling a total of 190,293 units compared to 163,334 the previous year. This growth was particularly notable in Europe, where sales to dealers increased by 25 % to 76,767 units.
Interestingly, almost 60 % of the bikes found a home in markets outside Europe. North America stood out with 50,472 units sold, registering a respectable increase of 13%. Meanwhile, in India, the segment saw a notable increase, with 33,029 units sold, representing an impressive 81% increase compared to the previous year. However, it is worth noting that growth rates in Latin America, Asia and Africa showed signs of decline. Despite this, the Pierer Mobility Group’s overall performance in the motorcycle segment presents a picture of substantial success and expansion, especially in the main markets.
In Europe, the Pierer Mobility Group, which includes the KTM, Husqvarna and GasGas motorcycle brands, exceeded expectations with a remarkable 20% increase in registrations. This impressive growth translated into a solid market share of 10.2%, a notable increase on the 9.9% market share recorded in the first half of 2022. It is clear that the group’s motorcycles are gaining popularity and influence in the European market, solidifying its position as a key player.
North America remains a key market for Pierer Mobility Group, where it successfully maintained the substantial market volume recorded in the first half of 2022, with approximately 290,000 new motorcycles registered. Against this competitive backdrop, the KTM Group managed not only to maintain but also to expand its market position. In the USA, it secured a market share of 12.3%, while in the Canadian market, its share reached an impressive 16.9%.
When considering the US and Canadian markets together, the KTM Group achieved a combined market share of 12.9%, a notable increase on the 10.6% market share recorded in the first half of 2022. This growth reflects the group’s ability to not only maintain its position in North America, but also to strengthen its position, making it an important player in the region’s motorcycle market.
