Marc Marquez has officially an offer from Gresini Racing and the only certainty for now is that he hasn’t yet decided which team he will represent in 2024. His brother’s team is well placed to try and secured the #93, but the truth is that Pramac Racing could have been in pole position to secure the spaniard before, offering however something to the rider he wasn’t interested in.
Ducati Corse Sporting Director Paolo Ciabatti said yesterday that Marquez had told him that there were three options on the table and it is to be hoped that there will be news on the spaniard’s future after this week and next.
Given that Pramac Racing is one of the highest-rated satellite teams in MotoGP and has always been closely supported by Ducati, it’s worth asking: why wasn’t this possibility on the table, or… was it?
The italians of Sky Italia reports that Marquez has asked for a one-year contract, with annual renewal, while the italian team’s desire would be to offer a two-year contract, with the most up-to-date version of the Desmosedici.
So, having failed, Pramac Racing ended up announcing Franco Morbidelli, with Gresini offering the spaniard a contract more in line with his wishes.
The same media reports that Marquez’s negotiations with KTM, an old desire of the austrian team, have already fallen through.
