The latest rumours in the MotoGP paddock point to Fermin Aldeguer joining Honda next year and Marc Marquez didn’t want to go into details, but he did say that the manufacturer must focus first and foremost on developing the bike.
Asked about Honda’s strategy to have the rider in their ranks in 2024, the spaniard didn’t want to go into details but assured that the main thing at the moment is to improve the RC213V: ‘It depends on the strategy they want to have. I will not go in on that plan because I respect them.Of course they will try to do the best for the project right now. And the best for the project is to invest all the money in the bike. That is what I believe’.
And continued: ‘Because there is no sense to have a bike that is not performing at the moment in a good way and [at the same time] to have the best rider on the grid’.
However, Marquez emphasised that this is nothing more than his idea on the subject: ‘Because in the end, first of all you need to have the bike and then go to catch the best rider, doesn’t matter who it is. Of course this is my opinion. But they have their own strategy’.
