There are two rounds left in the MotoGP season, and Jorge Martín is just 14 points behind Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati) in the standings. The Pramac rider already knows he won’t finish below the second place he currently holds, so he won’t hesitate to take risks in this weekend’s Qatar GP.
The Spaniard said in a press conference: ‘Well, I don’t know the maths exactly, I just know I need to recover points, so this is my target. I’m already second in the championship if I don’t do the next two races. I just need to attack and recover the most points from this race’.
Yesterday, Martín took part in an event with Nasser Al-Attiyah, who admitted it was good to disconnect from the championship for a while. However, he emphasized his focus and determination to reach the top of the standings: ‘For sure it helps to disconnect a little bit. I felt in Malaysia maybe I was riding a bit too blocked on Sunday, I was feeling I was crashing every corner and this didn’t help me to go fast and smooth. I’m already second, I just can change that position to first, so I will take all the risk I can and maybe to take some gambles to try to do it’.
