Earlier this season Marc Marquez made his prediction on who he believes will be the MotoGP champion in 2023 and his bet was on Jorge Martin. Now faced with the question again, despite Pecco Bagnaia is still in the lead with 14 points of advantage over the spaniard, the Repsol Honda rider still doesn’t change his mind on who will become the ultimate winner.
Bagnaia can seal the rider right away on Losail but Marquez stands by his bet, as he told in Qatar previewing the duel among the opponents: ‘I already bet, and I stand by it. When I place a bet, I go all the way with that bet. Martin is very close. There are four races left, and I see that Martin has the speed to do it. Then we will see’.
For the multiple champion, the pressure is on both sides: ‘In Malaysia, in the Sprint Race Martin won and in the long race Bagnaia won; maybe here it’s the other way around. But in Valencia it could rain. They both have pressure warnings. It will be interesting’.
