Lorenzo Savadori has been called up to replace the injured Miguel Oliveira at the MotoGP Valencia Grand Prix. He will ride for the CryptoDATA RNF MotoGP Team, and besides aiming for results, he will focus on testing equipment.
The Italian rider disclosed that the GP will serve as preparation for the next season: ‘We have a lot of new things to try. Aprilia told me we need to try a lot of new parts for the 2024 bike. We will try during the weekend because for Tuesday the forecast is not perfect – maybe rain. And we want to start the work on the race weekend. Of course it’s not so simple for me because I don’t try since one month and a half – in the last test in Jerez the weather was very bad and I didn’t try. And also I don’t ride the 2022 bike since Le Mans. Of course it’s not easy, but we will try to do the maximum. I have a really good feeling with RNF, we have good memories from Le Mans because we did a good weekend. And I can’t wait to start the weekend’.
Asked about what information he can gather when testing new components on last year’s RS-GP, Savadori commented: ‘It’s the first time I will ride with the new parts on the old bike. Honestly I don’t know, but maybe the two bikes are similar – not the same, but similar. I think we need to try some parts and we can try also on the 2022 bike. But I never tried’.
