Pedro Acosta began the final round of the Moto2 season in the best way possible by being the fastest in the first practice session of the Valencia GP held this morning.
The session started with Celestino Vietti (Fantic Racing/Kalex) and Barry Baltus (Fieten Oil Racing GP/Kalex) leading the way, but Alonso López (CAG SpeedUp/Boscoscuro) also briefly took the top position.
After 11 minutes, Fermín Aldeguer (CAG SpeedUp/Boscoscuro) claimed the lead, only to be outpaced by Acosta (Red Bull KTM Ajo/Kalex)… who was immediately overtaken by Jake Dixon (Inde GasGas Aspar/Kalex).
Aldeguer returned to the top of the timesheets and held that position for about 14 minutes before Acosta reclaimed it. In the final ten minutes, the lead changed hands four times. During this period, aside from the world champion, Arón Canet (Pons Wegow Los40/Kalex), Aldeguer, and Vietti also took turns at the front.
With his penultimate lap, Acosta definitively secured the lead, clocking a time of 1m34.024s. Vietti finished second, 0.111s behind, with Aldeguer in third, 0.161s behind. The top five was completed by Canet and Tony Arbolino (Elf Marc VDS/Kalex).
