Marco Bezzecchi ended the Valencia GP on the first lap when he crashed at turn 3 in an incident involving the Italian rider and Marc Márquez.
In his debrief, the Mooney VR46 Racing Team rider didn’t hold back in criticizing the Spanish rider and the stewards who decided not to penalize Marc Márquez after the incident.
– ‘ Get ready. The race for me was very short, unfortunately. Marc decided to end my race at turn 3, he did exactly the same to me as he did in Thailand at turns 5 and 6, that is, he hit me in the back. The problem this time was that he hit me harder and made me crash too early, I hurt my foot and my left shoulder, so now I have two very good shoulders (irony) so that’s it, I have nothing more to say. I don’t think his riding style needs much explanation and what was even better was that they didn’t even reveal the incident because it was very, very dirty on his part (Marc), from the television point of view you can see very well what happened, but because it’s Márquez nobody does anything. They investigated the incident, but did nothing, as usual. The problem with Márquez is that yesterday it was with Martín, but fortunately nothing serious happened, today with me, in Thailand with me, at Le Mans with Pecco. Most of the time, when a rider doesn’t crash, everything is fine, but when a rider causes another rider to crash, the minimum is a fucking penalty. Then it happens to the other riders, like Brad did and got a long lap and that’s the way it has to be. The race is 27 laps and in the third corner of the first lap, he causes me to crash, I think he deserves a penalty at the very least’.
Asked if he would have liked to talk to the stewards after the crash with Marc and talk to the Spanish rider, Bezzecchi replied: ‘I tried, I tried to talk to the stewards and they didn’t want to talk to me, I tried to talk to Carlos Ezpeleta and they didn’t want to talk to me, so I went to Marc’s trailer to talk to him and I asked him “why?” and he said “I didn’t see you”, it’s impossible that he didn’t see me, unfortunately. In Thailand he did exactly the same, so… I wanted to finish the year well, but unfortunately Marc wouldn’t let me. I’m happy with three wins and several podiums, I have a fantastic team with me, so I’m happy with our season’.
