At the end of a season, the Sprint races still divide the MotoGP riders. Many consider the format too demanding and intense, especially with two races in each Grand Prix, while others are in favor.
Fabio Quartararo believes that there should be fewer Sprint races – which doesn’t seem likely to happen in 2024. When asked if a potential riders’ union could help bring about changes on this matter, the Monster Energy Yamaha man replied:
– To be honest I don’t know, but until all riders sign an agreement I think it’s difficult to say. In 22 riders it’s normal that not 22 will agree. Maybe 15 yes, the others maybe not, or the opposite. And I think until we have something really signed and really done is difficult. Maybe some riders like the Sprints, I’m sure, but many don’t like. So what do you want to do with the Sprints? It’s a pretty difficult situation.
