Francesco Bagnaia had a worthy opponent in Jorge Martín until the final round of the World Championship in Valencia but, Carlo Pernat believes, the winner was really… the best. The round in Catalunya was decisive.
The manager of Enea Bastianini and Tony Arbolino is known for not having any problems saying what he thinks, and about the winner of the World Championship, he had no hesitation in saying that Pecco was a fair winner, speaking to Motosan.es: ‘For me, yes, the best man won. He was the best because, for me, the key to the world championship was in Barcelona. As for the tyres, Pecco had a high moment. He did zero and even missed the next two races because he was very wasn’t well physically’.
The italian stressed that the catalan round was decisive in the title race, without forgetting the problems that #1 had: ‘In my opinion, the key was there: if it hadn’t been for that tyre accident in Barcelona, the championship would probably have ended much earlier, because he already had a 66-point lead’.
