In 2021, Pedro Acosta entered the Moto3 World Championship as a bet of KTM and Ajo. He immediately joined one of the leading teams in the paddock, coming from an almost impeccable season in the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup and a third place in the FIM CEV Moto3.
Expectations were high, and the Spanish rider, who hadn’t even turned 17 at the start of the season, was obligated to confirm his potential with results.
With a second place followed by three wins, the start was very strong. After a slightly less good period, he only had four more podiums (three wins), but he was consistent (only outside the top ten twice) and became the champion.
Acosta now admits in a DAZN documentary that the title was very important: ‘If I hadn’t won everything, everyone would have been disappointed. My career wouldn’t have continued as it has so far’, he revealed.
