Francesco Bagnaia enters the new MotoGP season defending the title for the second consecutive year. Nevertheless, he expects even greater competition, having clinched the championship only in the last round in the last two seasons.
During Ducati’s presentation in Madonna di Campiglio, the two-time world champion in the premier class began by talking about the positive impressions he had during the Valencia test in November: ‘In Valencia, which is a track where you can’t make such a difference, in certain aspects, we immediately felt the difference, fortunately, it’s positive. So, I was very happy. Two days earlier, I had become champion, but it was a very positive test day’.
As for the expectations for the new season, Bagnaia stated: ‘The level will always continue to rise. The fact that there are eight Ducatis on the track is something favorable, but in certain situations, it’s also unfavorable. I think all the other teams have taken a step forward. Last year, KTM improved a lot, as did Aprilia. I believe Honda and Yamaha will take a step forward. The competition, or the opponents, even within Ducati, will be tough’.
