BMW enters this year’s World Superbike Championship with renewed hopes and ambitions. The investment has increased with the signing of Toprak Razgatlioglu and the creation of a test team, and team boss Shaun Muir believes in, at the very least, victories.
While pleased with the progress, Muir emphasized to SPEEDWEEK.com that much more is needed throughout 2024: ‘We took a big step – with the test team, the quality of the riders, and with the signing of Toprak. Nevertheless, there is still a lot of work ahead of us. We know where we are with our package, development is progressing well. But we have to improve this year, there’s no doubt about that’.
Regarding the possibility of Razgatlioglu becoming champion this year, Muir commented: ‘It is realistic that we win races and are on the podium very often. But it’s our first year together, it takes time to adapt. Whatever it takes, we adapt the bike to the way Toprak needs it. Winning the 2024 World Championship is a very big task, only Toprak knows if he can do it’.
