Álex Márquez is in no doubt: the 2023 Ducati Desmosedici is an evolution of the model he used in the last MotoGP season, although he admits he will have to adapt.
During Gresini Racing’s presentation for the new season, the Spaniard was asked about the differences between the model he rode last season and the one he’ll be using in 2024: ‘From the 2022 bike to the 2023 bike, first of all it was difficult to understand the difference because the day wasn’t easy in terms of conditions, a bit strange, but it’s true perhaps that the engine has a new character, new aerodynamics. We’ve adapted it a little, but the character of the engine compared to the 2022 bike… we have to adapt the power delivery to my riding style and Ducati has a lot of options for that’.
It’s true that he’ll have to get used to a new version of the bike, but for now it’s clear that this model is more interesting… and powerful: ‘We’ll still have three days in Malaysia to understand it a little better, but it seems to be a little different but not a revolution, just an evolution with more power and that’s always good, to have more power on the straight, to try to overtake and gain a few tenths’.
