Aerodynamics have gained significant importance in the overall performance of a MotoGP motorcycle over the past few years, thanks in large part to various solutions pioneered by Ducati and Gigi Dall’Igna. Nowadays, it is a crucial aspect that can make the difference between a competitive and less competitive bike.
Honda is working on a new aerodynamic package for 2024, and test rider Stefan Bradl commented on the current relevance of this aspect. The German rider explained to SPEEDWEEK.com:
– Aerodynamics, in general, have an effect that is unbelievable. It’s like filtering the sensation the rider has about the tires and the asphalt. This changes the feeling of what you sense with your hands on the handlebars or even on your seat. The effect is clearly noticeable, especially in fast corners. We are talking about some area on the fairing; at 150 km/h, this has a huge effect. Nowadays, aerodynamics are important for everything: more top speed, better turns, fewer wheelies.
